About Us

The sport of Adventure Racing is sweeping the nation at a phenomenal rate. It’s not only a great “weekend warrior” sport for those who are casual gym-goers and outdoor lovers, but also offers a totally new kind of challenge for fine-tuned athletes and triathletes. We warn you: this sport is highly addictive!

The best way to understand Pangea Adventure Racing is to experience it (get a taste by watching our video). Each of our races is unique and different; providing both physical and mental challenges, usually with a few surprises thrown in to keep everyone on their toes. Our adventure races include foot, bike and boat sections while navigating with map and compass.

New to Adventure Racing?

You’ll be relieved to know that we offer two different divisions at each race, the Sport and the Elite. The Sport division is designed for those new to Adventure Racing or just love to get outdoors for the occasional adventure. The Elite division is a longer race and requires a bit more strategy, skill and physical endurance. Many who learn the ropes in the Sport division quickly move up to the Elite division for more of a challenge!

Sport Adventure Race Division:

This race requires only a sense of adventure and a modest fitness level. Pangea Adventure Racing provides an “AR 101” prior to the Sport race covering basic navigation and how to run your first Adventure Race. Teams use topographic maps, aerial maps and/or local park maps to recognize major trails and terrain features. Often there may be multiple options on route choices between check points—it is each team’s challenge to choose what they think is the best and safest route. The majority of our Sport races are 3hrs in length, however we do have select longer Sport events.

Elite Adventure Race Division:

This advanced level adventure race requires a higher level of navigational skills and greater physical conditioning to be competitive. Teams use topographic maps, aerial maps and/or local park maps to determine location, distance, direction, and follow bearings necessary distances. Often there may be multiple options on route choices between check points—it is each team’s challenge to choose what they think is the best and safest route. The length of our Elite races varies from 6hrs to 30hrs.
