Sunshine Sea 2 Sea AR

 

 

Some words: Our objective from the beginning was to have a competitive multi-day event with nationally ranked teams going for the win while also getting every single person across the state on there own power no matter their skill. We would provide all support and transport for teams, a kinda hands on approach as you signed up for our event and we are gonna bus you to the start and support you to the end.

 

A 72hr expedition race with no attrition has never been accomplished. Just a short pre race meeting following pre race meal the night of check in informed all teams: No transport would be provided if you dropped except for injury and course would be provided as needed,  What? A 72 hr course with no attrition and teams getting maps at each TA during check out forcing all to navigate on the fly. Are you crazy? Other than knowing the next discipline, teams had little to go on, no ability to chart course, distance etc., a new adventure leaving each TA.

 

Having started over 100 adventure races I had never pondered a restart. Humm. CP 1 Ouch. Thanks to all the teams for regrouping and conquering the Sunshine Sea 2 Sea AR. An outside observer might say ya'll just went "on a trip". Yep we pushed every limit, and yall prevailed with all making it to the finish line.

 

It wasn't easy for us. We know it wasn't easy for you. However, it was immensly rewarding and fun for us. Hopefully, it was the same for you. The racers and volunteers that went through this trip with us have reserved a special place in our hearts and minds that will always point to a unique and beautiful experience.
