Turkey Burn AR
SPORT 4 Hour and ELITE 12 Hour Adventure Race
Results are Official
The 10th annual Turkey Burn AR is in the books and it was another great course designed by
Dave Brault &
Jim Feudner. Dave & Jim have been putting on the Turkey Burn AR since its inception including the past six years for Pangea. The course this year proved to be an awesome 12-hour challenge for Elite teams with a perfect 4-hour sprint for the Sport teams.
The season ended much the way it started with the girls from
Good'Nuff claiming another impressive victory. They were the only Elite team to clear the course with almost ten minutes to spare. That caps off a perfect season for them in the
Open division and nearly perfect overall. Also congrats to the
Swamp Gators for besting their personal rivals
Canyoneros for 2nd place in the open division. Looks like they win the bragging rights for the year.
Maybe the girls will race more as a coed team next year like they did today and qualify for the
Premier Division. That's where
Florida Xtreme 2 claimed the crown with another impressive performance. It has been an amazingly consistent year for the team with a top three finish in nearly every race. Right behind them were
Primal Instinct who also were on fire this year with four wins overall and top three finishes nearly everytime.
Florida Xtreme rounded out the division. The team was seventh overall but had to drop out eight hours in after suffering a broken bike derailleur. They were on pace to finish near the top.
In the
Sport Division, it was another high flying finish. To finish on top, there were no room for any errors and congrats to the eight teams that cleared the course in time. The
Rum Runners claimed their first victory since the Turkey Burn AR in 2009.
You're dead to me capped off their first season of racing with their first second place finish. And the
Out Steam Punks started out their second year with us with their first third place finish. Also a special ackowlegment to
Lost in the Matrix for finishing almost 30 seconds behind the
Punks and for being the highest placing 3/4 person coed team.
Thanks to Brevard County, St Johns River Management District and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for allowing us access to there natural lands. We really liked using Hatbill Park as a new venue. Besides the gorgeous landscape, there were also some wildlife sightings including three bears and two bobcats just to name a few.
Big thanks to our volunteers for this race and all season long. We need your help to make events run smoothly. It's never to early to
contact us if you are interested in volunteering for an upcoming event.
And lastly thanks to Brian & Alexandra from
Area Goats for spending part of their honeymoon with us. You're marriage has survived it's first great test; a 12 hour adventure race. We wish you all the best in the future and hope to see you again.
