Florida Parks Service

As the 2014 Sea 2 Sea AR rolls into day two, we would like to thank the Florida Parks Service for their immeasurable help with this event and others.
A great appeal of our adventure races is all the beautiful lands we are able to utilize. Florida is filled with natural treasures and for us to have the chance to show them off to our awesome community is a big part of the fun.
The Florida Parks Service (FPS) is an outstanding organization who's cooperation allows us to accomplish that goal. We aren't the only ones who recognize their importance to Florida. The national government does as well.
In 2013 the FPS won the prestigious National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in the management of state park systems. It was the third time they received this honor and no other state has won the award even twice.
Considerations for this award are based on the agency’s ability to address needs of those it serves through collective energies of citizens, staff and elected officials.
Since 1935, FPS have been working to provide recreational activities for the community, while preserving, protecting, interpreting and restoring natural resources in the area.
Without them and the FL Department of Environmental Protection, races like the Sea 2 Sea AR could never be possible. For the first day of this event alone, we were given access to so much of their land to provide racers from all over the country a scenic trip from one side of Florida to the other.
Places like the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway trail system and gorgeous Rainbow Springs State Park were visited by the racers. Some of the faster teams have already reached the recently renamed Silver Springs State Park for a paddle toward the Ocklawaha River along the recently open Fort King Waterway.
We just wanted to take the time to thanks and recognize this amazing agency we have in the Sunshine State for all of their hard work and dedication to making Florida just an awesome place to live and visit.
