The Pangea Elite 2010 Point Series
The 2010 Point Series currently consists of 11 total Elite Adventure Races, varying in length from 6 hours to 30 hours, concluding with the grand finale Turkey Burn AR. Teams must decide prior to registering for each qualifying race whether to enter Premier (3 or 4 person co-ed) or Open Division and must be ranked in that division for at least 4 Elite races prior to the Turkey Burn AR. Teams will be ranked on the points series page beginning with the Resolution Adventure Race. Teams may race more than 4 races to try to achieve a higher ranking, as the final ranking is determined by each team's 4 highest scoring races only. Only the 10 top ranked teams in the Premier Division and 15 top ranked teams in the Open Division will qualify to compete in the Turkey Burn AR. All teams competing in the Turkey Burn AR start on equal ground within their Division. The Premier Co-ed team that wins the Turkey Burn, wins the Point Series! Teams not in the Points Series may still compete in the Elite Turkey Burn AR, however are not eligible for any series awards.
Premier vs. Open Division
The Premier Division is reserved for 3 & 4 person co-ed teams only. The Open Division is for teams that feel they will not meet these requirements for the minimum 4 required races. In order qualify for the Turkey Burn, your team must race as either Premier or Open Division for 4 total races. That means if your team is a Premier Division team, you must remain 3 or 4 person co-ed throughout your 4 selected races and the Turkey Burn AR. Points are not transferable between Divisions.
Scenarios
- If your team will occasionally be a 3-person co-ed team but you're not sure you can complete the 4 selected races plus the Turkey Burn as a co-ed team, choose the Open Division and be sure to complete the 4 selected races as an Open Division team.
- If your team plans to race in the Open Division for 1 race (as a 4-person non co-ed team) and Premier Division (as a 4-person co-ed team) for 4 races, only the 4 races as Premier Division will count.
- It is possible to race 4 races in the Premier and 4 races in the Open and race a team in each division at the Turkey Burn AR.
Rules*
Point Series teams will compete in 4 adventure races minimum, plus the Turkey Burn AR for qualifying teams. For scoring purposes, Pangea Adventure Racing will track team names, not team members, in the Point Series races, though this information is available on the team page. Upon completion of the final 2010 Elite race prior to the Turkey BurnAR, the top 10 Premier Division teams and top 15 Open Division teams will be qualified to compete in the Turkey Burn AR.
